Artwire, international internet collaboration
with three online and traditional exhibitions, 1996 (view
the video)
Artwire was an early art on the internet and in real space collaboration between students in three schools: Cleveland State University in Ohio; Kunstseminar Freie Hochschule in Metzingen, Germany; and the University of Maryland College Park.
I originated this project in 1996 and organized the three schools for the collaboration. Each school sent the others a project, ie,: "Listen to the sound of rain. Create a piece that expresses the sound in another way." The resulting pieces (9 total) were exhibited on the internet and in simultaneous real-space exhibitions in the three venues. From the paint slapped on skin in Rain, we also created unique contact prints that were exhibited in all venues.
